At JHFCU, we’re dedicated to serving our members from all over the globe. If you’re a non-U.S. citizen living in the United States and working or attending school as part of the JHU, JHH, or JHMI system, we’re here to be your trusted financial partner. The account opening process may be started online, and must be completed in person at one of our branches.
In order to open an account, you must provide one of the options below:
Foreign Passport with English text
US Government-issued ID
State-issued ID
Address Requirements
International members can use a temporary address to open non-dividend Share Savings and Checking accounts, making it easier than ever to get started with JHFCU as soon as you arrive! As an added bonus, we do not require an FTIN (Federal Tax Identification Number)!
Verification of a permanent US address must be provided within thirty days of the opening date, or the account will be closed. Loan applications will not be accepted until address verification and Social Security Number are provided.
Documents Accepted as Proof of Address:
- Utility bill issued within the last thirty days that includes your name and US address. Accepted utility bills include gas/electric, water, and internet. Cell phone bills will not be accepted as proof of address.
- Valid, non-expired lease agreement, addendum, or renewal. Must include tenant name, address, current lease period, signed by tenant and landlord.
- Mortgage statement issued within the last 30 days.
- Homeowners/renters insurance statement issued within the last 30 days.
